Air Guitar Family Raises Nearly $2000 for Noche
The guitars may be invisible, but the love in the family of air guitarists is real. And so is the money, it turns out. This year, several local qualifiers decided to donate some or all of their proceeds to helping Chicago air guitarist Noche raise money for a new wheelchair-accessible van (she cares for severely disabled adults and needs one to get around, but her current one is old, in bad shape, and was also stolen and beaten up further - you can learn more here). We are happy to report that with the qualifier season over, the total collected by all participating hosts was $1900!
Oh, and did we mention that Noche also broke her foot days before competing in the Central Conference Finals?
Special thanks go to Kansas City and San Francisco's qualifiers who raised $700 between them (they are tied for top fundraising cities) - and we appreciate every qualifier that kicked in any amount, and every dollar that every attendee threw into a donation jar.
With this donation, we will more than double her current amount raised. Of course, she still needs more - wheelchair vans don't come cheap - so if you have a few bucks to spare that you didn't get the chance to give at a show, or know someone else who would like to help, please consider heading over to her fundraising page!
