Detroit Recap: Minor Scales and Finger Taps, Real Guitars Are Nothing But Crap!
-This is a guest post by Detroit Betty, who brought back competitive air guitar to Detroit after a 6-year drought!- The Detroit qualifier brought a nice twist to the Air Guitar scene. Frisky babes from all over the “The D” came out to compete. All in all, 8 female acts, Chuck Norris and The Wizard of Shred performed, which was certainly a sight to see.
First place went to the wonderfully naughty Kasey Killswitch who brought it home with a worthy performance of “Hot for Teacher”. She was also the winner of Detroit’s First “Righteous Rocker Trophy”. The second place slot went to a true natural, Rockin Rachel, who was a wild card performer. The perfect combo of booze and rock left the crowd pleasantly surprised when this petite player took the stage to perform “Paradise City”.
Third place was taken by the Material Girl herself, Lady Madonna, who definitely had the most fun! Her performance of “Anyway You Want It” was certainly enthusiastic but her true talent shined, in the round two pick, “Kick out the Jams”.
A special shout out to all the competitors Rosie the Riffer, Detroit Diva, 2 cute, Hardcore Hollie and Jacklyn “The Original Wildcard”. Thanks for ripping your shirts and shaking your air guitars. Thank you Chuck Norris, who was the only official male competitor and MC Uncle Whammy. It was a serious feat to get on stage with such charismatic ladies. As well, The Wizard of Shred was a delight with his lyrical spells and until next year, Guitarious disappearious!
